Easy steps to self help.

(1) Get to the Airport early, seats are allocated by the computer when you book, you may find you're not seated together and this can be easily rectified at check-in if you are early. (2) In-flight meal, (charter flights) cabin staff have no time to check who is or not having a meal, being seated forward of row 22 normally guarantees you a meal if you paid for one or not. (3) Try and even out baggage among cases, a case which is heavy will be labeled so, it will also be last to be loaded. If a company comes along with urgent cargo and wants it on your flight this could take the place of your heavy case which would be left behind for the next flight. Lost baggage, at the time of reporting the loss request a payment to cover necessary items also make this in writing and phone your insurance company who can push your airline on your behalf. Note: Baggage contents may not be covered if they have become wet while waiting to be loaded onto the aircraft. (4) In resort report any problem with your holiday to your rep at once, put it in writing give the rep a copy and inform the hotel of any problem the hotel is more likely to offer a quicker solution, reps being more interested in selling tours to make money and so may not get to your problem for a couple of days. Problem not solved then report it on your return make sure you use recorded delivery, take photographs and save any out of pocket receipts, It takes on average 28 days to reply to your letter and often this is a standard computer generated reply, so send all the information back again with a further letter. It's worth remembering any items you send such as receipts photographs/video footage will not be returned so at first send copies. (5) Photo copy: Passport - Insurance Documents - Credit Cards - Airline Tickets. Leave these with someone before you travel. Note: I used to photograph these with my digital camera so I could print off any information from the small memory card I used just for this possible event then found out that one certain British Consul Office would not take passport information this way and the information had to be faxed from the UK which was a faxed copy from my computer which was the same information. (6) Mobile Phone: Make a note of the IMEI number press(*#06#) if lost it can quickly be disabled and if found returned quickly to you also stick a label inside the back cover with airline and flight number or your hotel phone number large numbers of phones go missing every Easter and July/August.
